Get Healthy Guilford Director

The Get Healthy Guilford Coalition Director is Leslie Armeniox, PhD, LPC, ADTR. Dr. Armeniox has a Ph.D. in counseling from UNC Greensboro and an MCAT (masters) degree in Creative Arts in Therapy, with a specialty in Dance/Movement Therapy, from Hahnemann Medical College (now Drexel). Dr. Armeniox is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist. She has been in clinical and private practice in the Greensboro community since 1981, and has taught counseling, psychology, creative arts in counseling, and health education courses at several local colleges and universities, including UNCG, NC A&T, Wake Forest, & Guilford College. In her clinical practice she worked with individuals who were compulsive overeaters and those with disordered eating. She is a researcher and writer, and has served as a clinical and site supervisor for undergraduate and graduate level interns since 1984.

Dr. Armeniox also has worked as a dancer/dance educator, choreographer, movement coach, personal trainer, and exercise instructor. She developed several exercise programs based on educational kinesiology and developmental movement. Dr. Armeniox has experience with advocacy at both state and national levels through her roles as State Chair of the National Alliance for Pupil Service Organizations, Government Affairs Chair for the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA), & Public Relations Liaison to Counseling for the ADTA. She was featured in the 60 MInutes II documentary "Unsafe Haven" with Ed Bradley, which advocated for safe conditions for children & adolescents in psychiatric treatment settings.

In her free time, Leslie enjoys walking, cycling, singing, dancing, and checking out new, local restaurants, farmer's markets, and music listening venues.
